Thomas Hayes Schumpert is a member of the Board of Directors for Educational Services of America, Inc. ("ESA").   In 2002, Mr. Schumpert was appointed as the Program Director for Edscholar and has played a significant role in making this a very successful program.  His career began as a teacher and coach at Central High School in Knoxville, Tennessee from 1960 to 1977.  In 1973, Mr. Schumpert led the Bobcats to the TSSAA State Baseball Championship.  In 1977, Mr. Schumpert was appointed Business Manager of the Knox County School System.  He then served as the Assistant Superintendent of Business Affairs from 1981 to 1990.  In 1990, Mr. Schumpert was elected as Knox County Trustee.  Following his term as trustee, he was elected Knox County Executive in 1994 and again in 1998.  Mr. Schumpert received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration.  He is actively involved in many organizations and has received recognition for the following: the first "Fountain City Man of the Year Award" and "East Tennessee Football Coach of the Year" in 1973.  He was formerly a basketball official for high schools and small colleges, a member of the YMCA Board of Directors, Chairman of the Legacy Park Foundation, a Board Member of the Sunrise Foundation, a Board Member of the First Security Group, Inc. and a member of the Knoxville Leadership Class in 1993.
