Edsouth has a vested interest in the well being of our employees. To show this support we offer a wide range of benefits to our workforce. Some benefit programs require contributions from the employee, but most are fully paid by Edsouth.

Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
Edsouth currently offers both health, dental, and vision insurance at no cost to the employee. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee provides the health insurance. The dental insurance is provided by Guardian and the vision insurance is provided by EyeMed. Each employee is eligible to apply for coverage under these plans on the date that the employee completes between 2 or 3 months of continuous, full-time service with Edsouth. Coverage is contingent upon acceptance by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, Guardian, and EyeMed companies.

Sick/Emergency Benefits
Edsouth provides paid sick/emergency leave benefits to all employees for periods of temporary absence due to illnesses, injuries or emergency circumstances. Eligible employees will accrue sick/emergency leave benefits at the rate of 5 days per year.

Long Term Disability Insurance
Edsouth provides a disability income benefits program from Jefferson Pilot at no cost to employees. Benefits begin after short term ends and will pay a benefit until Social Security retirement age or the employee is no longer disabled. 2 year maximum benefit for substance abuse and mental illness.

Life and Accidental Death Insurance
Each employee is provided basic group term life insurance of $50,000, and an additional $50,000 for accidental death and dismemberment. Each employee is eligible to apply for coverage under these plans on the date that the employee completes between 2 or 3 months of continuous, full-time service with Edsouth. Coverage is contingent upon acceptance by the Jefferson Pilot.
Edsouth will pay the premium for all employees accepted for the coverage. Each employee may elect to provide coverage for their spouses and dependents at their own cost.

Direct Deposit
All compensation is paid to employees by direct deposit, which can be coordinated with your bank or credit union. The Human Resources Department will supply any necessary enrollment materials during your orientation.

Vacation Benefits
Vacation time off with pay is available to eligible employees to provide opportunities for rest, relaxation, and personal pursuits. The amount of paid vacation time employees receive each year increases with the length of their employment. Vacation time off is paid at the employee's base pay rate at the time of vacation and does not include overtime or any special forms of compensation such as incentives, commissions, bonuses, or shift differentials.
Edsouth also recognizes nine holidays per year and three discretionary holidays per year.

Work/Life Balance Program
At Edsouth, we try to encourage a healthy balance between family, work, and personal endeavors when feasible and mutually acceptable by employees and management. At the supervisor's discretion, a compressed workweek, flextime, job sharing, or part-time employment may be implemented to enhance the above stated balance for employees who have demonstrated a history of outstanding job-performance.

Health Club Membership
All regular full-time Knoxville employees are eligible to participate in activities at Fort Sanders Health and Fitness. For membership, employees pay one half of the Fort Sanders initiation fee and rates per pay period of $11.94 for individuals, $12.87 for single parents, $15.42 for couples, and $20.77 for families. Edsouth subsidizes the remaining portion of the monthly membership dues.

Educational Assistance
Financial assistance- 100% of the cost of tuition, required textbooks and supplies, and laboratory and graduation fees reimbursed upon satisfactory completion of a course or receipt of a diploma, in an amount equal to the lesser of actual cost or the amount of such costs for the same or most nearly comparable course and items at the Tennessee public educational institution having the highest cost for such items.
Eligible employee - any full-time employee who has been employed with Edsouth for one year and who is on the payroll during the full period of a course. Part-time employees are not eligible for educational assistance.
All courses of study must be approved by management at Edsouth.

Retirement Plan
If you elect to participate, the company will match 100% of employee contributions, up to the first 5% of salary (maximum allowed is 20% of income, or $13,000). Please note that vesting is subject to the following schedule:

After 6 years of participation A $1.00 on each $1
Note: Years of company service is counted from month of service. If employed the 1st - 15th, go back to the 1st of the month. If employed the 16th - 31st, go to the 1st of the next month.

Other Voluntary Benefits
Additional Life Insurance
In addition to the basic group term life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance Edsouth provides each employee, you may elect to add more Voluntary Life insurance on your spouse, child or for yourself.
Short Term Disability
Protects your income if you are not able to work due to an accident or illness. Receive up to 66.67% of your current income up to three months. Ask about maternity benefits.
Accident Insurance
Helps pay unexpected medical expenses from lacerations, fractures and other injuries.
Cancer Insurance
Helps pay out-of-pocket expenses not covered by major medical plans. Coverage includes initial diagnosis, treatment, inpatient care, transportation and lodging, and experimental treatment. Family coverage available.
Long Term Care
Includes a broad range of medical, social and /or personal care services required by an individual who has lost some degree of independence due to a chronic illness or disability. It assists them with daily activities that most healthy people take for granted.
Flexible Spending Account
A fringe benefit plan that saves significant taxes. You are given a choice to redirect part of your salary to purchase benefits from a "menu" of non-taxable benefits.
Roth IRA
Contributions may be deducted from the participating employee's paycheck. The maximum contribution is $3,000 per year. Earnings are tax-free when withdrawal after 5 years and/or for retirement, the purchase of a first primary residence, or secondary education.
Catastrophic Sick Leave Bank
This program provides additional sick leave days to contributors who have suffered a catastrophic personal illness and whose sick leave and vacation will be exhausted.
